Italian
At OLGC, we are all co-learners of Italian. Each class participates in a 50-minute explicit Italian lesson, which is supported throughout the school day by the use of functional, practical Italian in the classroom and around the school. Our focus is on oral language and on helping students understand themselves as confident speakers of Italian. The program teaches high-frequency vocabulary needed to communicate in everyday contexts, using gestures and practical activities to help students remember and apply the language. This approach ensures that Italian is experienced as a living, dynamic part of school life, developing students’ communication skills and fluency in authentic ways.
