Secondary Schools Transition

At OLGC, we believe that preparing students for the transition to secondary school is an important part of their final year in primary education. This transition is more than a change of setting; it is a significant step in each child’s personal, social, spiritual, and academic journey.

We foster strong partnerships with our local Catholic, Independent, and State secondary schools to ensure that students and families feel supported and well-informed. Our transition program encourages Year 6 students to reflect on their time at OLGC, engage in rich dialogue about the opportunities and challenges ahead, and grow in confidence for the next stage of their learning.

A highlight of the program is welcoming back past students, who share their experiences of moving to secondary school and offer valuable advice to the graduating class. This connection helps current students see themselves as part of a wider community of learners. The journey concludes with a rich celebration of each student’s achievements and their contribution to the life of OLGC. Guided by God’s love, we believe this farewell honours their growth and prepares them to step forward with resilience, gratitude, and hope, ready to embrace the gifts and opportunities that secondary school will bring.
